Title of event Spirituality in the Writings of Patrick Kavanagh. Panel of Speakers from AISGA (All Ireland Spiritual Guidance Association)
Description of event

This workshop examines the poetry of the Irish poet, Patrick Kavanagh whose work detects the thumb-print of God on the simplest aspects of creation. His sacramental imagination encaptures hints of the eternal in the green meadows, in ploughed fields and in canal waters. Despite his unorthodox outward behaviour, an intense personal vision offers a gospel that celebrates the miracles of everyday found in the commonplaces of life.

Spiritual Direction is sought more and more today since questions persist regarding the meaning of life and what is takes to live authentically as a Christian today.  Spiritual guidance often helps in instances of spiritual bewilderment.  AISGA is an All Ireland Spiritual Guidance Association which serves as an umbrella accrediting organisation for all traditions of spiritual accompaniment. Its members meet twice yearly for the purpose of up-skilling and renewal.  During this panel discussion, aspects of the training needed to become a spiritual guide will be discussed  as well as information on how spiritual accompaniment is being practised in Ireland today. Questions will be invited on any part of the input and the panel will provide information about how to avail of direction and how to become a trained spiritual guide today.

Speakers will include:  Rev Dr Jack Finnegan SDB, Sr Eibhlis NicUaithneas, Mr Greg Heylin, Fr Paddy Carberry SJ and Ms Carmel Boyle. The session will be chaired by Sister Una Agnew SSL.
